About

One of my long-term scientific goals is to map the complete circuitry of the primate brain. I'm currently working in Heidelberg, Germany, on a complete mapping of all inter-areal connections, at the single axon level, in the mouse brain, using a new type of electron microscopy, which I believe will revolutionize our understanding of brain structure and function.

My previous work includes being the architect behind the BrainMaps Project (at http://brainmaps.org ) at the University of California, which involved ultra high resolution whole-brain mapping.

For a list of most of my publications, see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&Cmd=DetailsSearch&Term=Mikula+Shawn
